Original future in doubt

The future of CanWest MediaWork's Original brand in the UK is in doubt today as newspaper report claims the company is understood to be seeking offers for its three radio stations.

The report, in the [link=http://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/main.jhtml?xml=/money/2008/05/30/cncanwest130.xml]Telegraph[/link], quotes Rick Hetherington, president of European Operations at CanWest, saying: "We have been approached about the stations, and anything is for sale at any time at the right price."
He goes on to add that CanWest was not in discussions to give up its slot on Channel 4's digital radio service, which is to be filled by an Original-branded station.
Ideal buyers could include GMG Radio which owns over a dozen similar sized-radio stations around the UK, and Global Radio.
