GTN hires BRMB travel man

BRMB's travel reporter Peter Bates has been hired by Global Traffic Network to lead its new broadcasts for Traffic Radio from the Highways Agency’s National Traffic Control Centre near Birmingham.

Peter joins GTN after four years of fronting breakfast and drivetime traffic reports on the Midlands station. Peter is the new voice of the national traffic headlines each morning, which are heard on all six regional Traffic Radio streams. He’s joined by Jason Johnson, also from GCap, who has previously voiced airborne traffic reports for Trent FM and RAM FM.
Traffic Radio now has a team of four based at Traffic Radio’s purpose-built studios in the control room of the National Traffic Control Centre.
Traffic Radio’s Manager, Will Jackson, said: “This shows again that GTN is committed to hiring the best radio talent, to take Traffic Radio to the next level for our clients at the Highways Agency, and their customers on the roads. All the team are really excited about broadcasting from the NTCC, where we are right at the heart of the HA’s road network.”
