Advertising Awards: Nominations

The nominations are out for the 2009 Radio Advertising Awards, ahead of the ceremony on September 17th.

The awards, organised by the Radio Advertising Bureau, aim to celebrate the best in radio advertising and look to recognise the best radio campaigns from the last year in terms of both creativity and effective planning.
Leading the way with four nominations is The Department for Transport whilst Orange, Volvic, Sky, UPS and Audi have each been nominated for two awards. This is the first year the RAB has introduced the £1m Aerials Creative Challenge which aims to recognise the best of both existing and future radio campaigns – £500,000 of radio airtime will be given to an existing radio advertiser and £500,000 will be awarded for the best new radio ad.
20/20 Optical Stores, Stop the Traffik, Otrivine, Tourettes Action and Kids Company are shortlisted in the best new category whilst Cadbury's, Lurpak, Marie Curie, Anti Knife Crime and the Department for Transport have been shortlisted for the best existing radio ad.
Winners of the Grand Prix category, which includes most outstanding entry and media agency of the year, will be announced at the ceremony on 17th September. The event is being hosted by Absolute Radio’s Christian O’Connell at the Room on London’s South Bank.
Said Simon Redican, managing director of the RAB: "We've been really pleased with the quality of entries this year showcasing ideas that work brilliantly on radio – we're particularly pleased with the response we've had for the £1m Aerials Creative Challenge, where we’ve had great entries in this category."
