Wyre gains co-location approval

Kidderminster's local radio station 107.2 The Wyre has been given Ofcom permission to leave town and co-locate with sister stations Telford FM and The Severn.

The Format request change follows a similar move by the station 18 months ago, which gave the station permission to broadcast for 20 hours a day from the shared location, at the MNA Radio head office.
But the latest move means the station can broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from a location outside its own TSA. The Wyre will however keep a local four hour programme each day.
Ofcom said: "Both stations have an MCA of fewer than 250,000 adults, and the two are not too far apart geographically. The cultural affinity between the two areas was highlighted within the group’s previous applications for programme sharing between The Wyre and Telford FM."
