Freelance swearing on 6 Music

Just 24 hours after the BBC Trust gave some hope to the future of BBC 6 Music, the station has attracted at least one complaint for use of bad language.

Presenter Lauren Laverne, whilst interviewing Brooklyn band Freelance Whales, immediately apologised after the F-word was used.

Lauren asked the band members what fans can expect at a gig, and got a straight answer about the instruments used, to which Lauren commented: "OK, that's a very literal answer.."

Prompted to take the answer further, one band member [link=http://radiofail.wordpress.com/2010/02/16/live-music-interview-fail/]said[/link]: "Oh, OK it's going to be fucking awesome"

Lauren immediately apologised, and so did the band.

A BBC spokesperson told RadioToday.co.uk: "During Lauren Laverne's show today a member of the band Freelance Whales used inappropriate language live on air for which Lauren immediately apologised. We are sorry for any offence caused."
