Moor breakfast for Doug Wood

Signal Radio stalwart Doug Wood will be joining the team at 103.7 Moorlands Radio this week. The popular Signal 2 presenter, who had been at the Stoke-based commercial radio station since it launched in the early 80s, finished his afternoon show on the radio station last week although he will continue on a Saturday morning.

“We are really pleased that Doug will be joining us,” said Chairman Tony Mullins, “Doug joined the team at Moorlands Radio as a member a few months ago, and it is a fantastic opportunity for us to have someone with Doug's expertise. Doug is an extremely professional broadcaster who has been in the business a long time and we look forward to welcoming his listeners to the radio station too”.

Mid-morning presenter Sam Plank looks forward to re-uniting the Wood n Plank brand that was so popular in the area when the two worked together a few years ago. “Doug is a breath of fresh air,” said Sam, “he is a great team player and I know our listeners will warm to him. He may even bring along some of his comedy characters to join in with Paul Oldfield's comedy frog in the afternoon”.

“Moorlands Radio is such a friendly station that believes in its community” said Doug, “I am grateful for having the opportunity to continue to broadcast to the many listeners in North Staffordshire who over the years I have come to call friends. The team at Moorlands have been so welcoming that I can't wait to be on air next Monday.”

Doug Wood will be presenting the breakfast show between 7am and 10am for a fortnight from 16th August 2010, while the station's usual presenter Mervyn Gamage has a well earned lie in.

Moorlands Radio can be heard in the Staffordshire Moorlands and surrounding areas on 103.7 FM.
