Yorkshire Radio extends hours

Digital station Yorkshire Radio has increased its number of live hours of programming and signed another deal to provide local sports coverage.

The station tell us they're now live 6am-10pm on weekdays and 10am-6pm at weekends.

On top of increased live programming we hear the station has recently signed a new two-year agreement with Yorkshire County Cricket Club to be the club’s official media partner. They already have a rights deal with the Rugby Football League for Super League commentary, and cover the football matches of Leeds United, who own the station.

Station Director Ben Fry told RadioToday.co.uk: "The station is going from strength to strength and as we add more and more live sport we are getting bigger audiences listening to the station and hope that trend continues with increased live programming and new deals in place with the RFL and Yorkshire County Cricket Club."

He added: "At a time when a lot of stations are cutting back I am proud of the service we are providing Yorkshire sports fans."
