New breakfast for BBC Coventry

BBC Coventry and Warwickshire has started the new year with a new breakfast show, presented by former BBC Derby presenter Shane O'Connor.

Shane has taken over from Marian McNamee and Tim Boswell who hosted the morning slot for the last 15 months.

Shane told RadioToday.co.uk: "I’m delighted to be joining BBC Coventry and Warwickshire – it's a great station and a fantastic team. I've enjoyed covering programmes in the past, and have built a great rapport with the audience during my shorter stints here. It's good to have an opportunity to build on that."

Shane's been on air since the mid-nineties, when he started presenting the early show at BBC WM. He went on to present mid-morning and breakfast shows during seven years at BBC Radio Derby, twice helping the station to gold Sony Awards.

Jeremy Pollock, managing editor of BBC Coventry & Warwickshire, said: "I've worked with Shane in the past, and he's made a positive difference wherever he’s been in the schedule. I'm delighted to be able to bring him to BBC Coventry & Warwickshire. Shane's been very well received by the audience when he's covered for other presenters, and his appointment will give us a really strong start to the New Year."
