Smooth Radio hires Denise Van Outen

Former Capital FM breakfast co-presenter Denise Van Outen is joining Smooth Radio for a one-off programme this Bank Holiday Weekend.

The ex-Big Breakfast television show host will be covering for new recruit Emma B from 2pm till 6pm on Sunday.

Her last radio appearance was in 2008 when she spent six months re-united with Johnny Vaughan at Capital FM, but quit half-way through her contract – later revealing that she left because relations between her and Johnny Vaughan had “soured”.

GMG Radio’s Group Programme Director John Simon’s said: “Denise’s charismatic and energetic personality will no doubt be a hit with our listeners, and I’m thrilled she’s agreed to come in and do this Special Show for the Bank Holiday Weekend. I hope it will be just the start of an on-going relationship between Smooth and Denise, and we can tempt her to do even more shows for us”

Denise added: “I’m a big fan of Smooth Radio and very excited to be doing my first solo radio show”.

Last year Denise gave birth to a baby girl, Betsy and launched her own maternity clothing range with Very. She has also co-produced and starred in the one woman show ‘Blondes’ and written a book about her experiences of pregnancy called Bumpalicious.
