Global Radio’s network of Heart radio stations across the UK has begun a week-long fundraising effort to raise money for ChildLine.
The Have A Heart appeal for 2012 has a theme of ‘Be a Kid for a Kid’, with the 17 regional Heart stations encouraging listeners to do things like organise a school disco, run a cake sale or have a ‘guess the baby’ competition.
Presenters are also auctioning off money-can’t-buy lots – including a trip to Milan to experience James Morrison in concert, making cupcakes with Pixie Lott and a mini-break to New York to see James Corden on Broadway. There’ll also be a big on-air finale to the week on Friday featuring Heart network presenters Emma Bunton, Jason Donovan and Toby Anstis and celebrity guests.
The appeal is trying to raise money for 140 new volunteer ChildLine counsellors, enabling the charity to speak with an additional 33,600 children.
Heart morning presenter and Have a Heart Ambassador Toby Anstis said: “It’s such a privilege to be involved in the Have a Heart Appeal and raise money for ChildLine. This is the week when we can make a real difference to the lives of thousands of children across the country who are in distress or danger and need protection.”
