5 live hires former Wimbledon champion

Former men’s Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek is joining the BBC Radio 5 live team for Wimbledon 2012.

The 1996 winner will be joined in the commentary box by Pat Cash, who himself won the tournament 25 years ago

They’ll be commentating together with 1998 ladies champion Jana Novotna, current WTA player Bethanie Mattek-Sands and this year, for the first time, Nick Bollettieri, the tennis coach who developed the careers of Andre Agassi, Maria Sharapova and the Williams sisters.

Pundits also include seven-time Wimbledon doubles champion Mark Woodforde, former British number one Jeremy Bates, Tim Henman’s former coach David Felgate, former ATP pro Jeff Tarango and former Austrian player Barbara Schett.

The commentary will be led by tennis correspondent Jonathan Overend, along with Clare Balding, Alastair Eykyn and David Law.

Richard Bacon will be back presenting from Wimbledon each weekday from midday, with Shelagh Fogarty hosting the late afternoon 5 live coverage from the All England Club from 4.00pm.

Radio 5 live sports extra will be provide extra court coverage most days from 11.30am.

Blue Peter’s Helen Skelton, comedian Jon Richardson, plus Dot Davies and Eleanor Oldroyd are all part of the 5 live Wimbledon reporting team this year.
