Heart and Capital TV start broadcasting

As announced in July, Global Radio has launched two television channels to mirror their biggest radio brands, Heart and Capital.

News of the launch was made to staff Friday morning hard on the heels of the clearance yesterday by the Secretary of State on plurality grounds of their acquisition of GMG Radio, and now the investigation of the deal by the Competition Commission.

The channels are now available on Sky 387 and 388, Freesat 516 and 517, and can also be accessed on the Heart and Capital iPhone and iPad apps, as well as on heart.co.uk and capitalfm.com

They are run completely in-house from Global Radio’s HQ in Leicester Square, and are billed as the next generation of music TV channels.

Ashley Tabor, Global’s Founder & Executive President told RadioToday.co.uk: “Global prides itself on clear, simple brand propositions for its consumers. We want our brands to lead the way in delivering great content to people wherever and however they enjoy music, and the launch of Heart TV and Capital TV is the next step in deepening and extending the relationship we’ve already built with our audiences. These channels are absolutely stunning, they look gorgeous, are incredibly slick and represent the next generation of music TV channels. The team here at Global have done a fantastic job.”

Stephen Miron, Global’s Group Chief Executive said: “The launch of these new TV channels are a natural evolution for the Capital & Heart brands and will allow us to provide increased commercial opportunities for our radio partners.”
