Emma Bunton joins Jamie Theakston at Heart

Spice Girl Emma Bunton is to replace Harriet Scott as breakfast co-host with Jamie Theakston on London’s Heart, starting January 7th 2013.

Harriet left the show on November 30th and Margherita Taylor is currently filling in for the remainder of the year.

Emma originally joined Heart in June 2009 to host The Saturday Show and has covered breakfast in the past when Harriet has been away. She’ll continue to host her networked weekend show each Saturday at 5pm.

Emma Bunton said: “I am so excited to be joining Heart Breakfast! Jamie and I have known each other for years so it’ll be great spending each morning with him chatting, laughing and playing great music. We are looking forward to sharing the fun with everyone!”

Global Radio’s Director of Broadcasting Richard Park said: “We are thrilled that Emma is bringing girl power to Heart Breakfast. Jamie and Emma have been friends for a long time and have a great natural chemistry that Londoners are going to love.”

The change to breakfast is just one part of the remodelling at the station as former Capital jock Roberto replaced Simon Dale on evenings and drive-time host Neil Bentley leaves at the end of the month. His replacement has not yet been announced.

Once again a top radio show is given to a celeb instead of a proper time-served presenter like Roger Twiggy Day, DLT or Paul Burnett. They would be so much better.

Also, was this vacancy advertised – if so where? If not, why not?

Remodelling it’s like replacing beige paint with more beige paint noone will notice the difference – still as long as they really make the most of those Speed links and thier one personality link an hour to stamp a personality on the shows……

I was sure Daniel Fox was going to get it ! That forced persona and false laugh seems to go down a treat with Richard Park at all the stations he covers alongside his regular Watford slot.

shift the bass man over to heart drive time and let some of the reasonable presenters on capital do a better job than him, possibly Pandora or will cozens
