More Estefan for Radio 2 by Folded Wing

BBC Radio 2 is to air a special festive programme with Gloria Estefan on Christmas Eve, produced by indie Folded Wing.

The station is currently repeating last year‘s Gloria Estefan’s Latin Beat but this new hour-long programme, will see Gloria playing her favourite Latin Christmas songs.

In Gloria Estefan’s Latin Christmas, listeners will hear Gloria in Miami as she shares her personal stories of Christmas traditions and music from across the Latin world.

“I was very inspired by my son because every Christmas I was able to relive the magic that I felt as a child by seeing it again through his eyes. We wrote ‘Christmas Through Your Eyes’ in less than an hour and my son ended up singing on the recording with the choir of children that perform in the song. I’m very happy and honored that it has become a song that gets played every Christmas throughout the world!”

Folded Wing director Karen Pearson, who will produce the programme, is delighted to be working with Gloria again: “I loved working with Gloria so much on last year’s seven part ‘Gloria Estefan’s Latin Beat’ series for BBC Radio 2. Gloria is such an authority on Latin music and so passionate about it! Working with Gloria on the Latin Christmas special is the perfect Christmas present. I can’t wait to get started on the next series too!”

Folded Wing were named Indie of the Year at the 2011 Radio Production Awards, and produce the Jamie Cullum show for BBC Radio 2 as well as a range of other programmes and digital content for BBC and commercial clients.
