Jewish Chaplain to host BBC Surrey show

BBC Surrey has signed up the Jewish Chaplain to the University of Surrey to host Sunday Breakfast from studios on the University campus.

As well as his role of Chaplain, Alexander Goldberg enjoys an international career in human rights, community and interfaith relations.

In June 2011, he was appointed chair of the Football Association’s Faith in Football group and named a Chaplain to the Olympic Games. He has served on a number of UK Government task forces, developed the Faith Forum for London, the Mayor of London’s Faith Conference and recently a major community relations programme for the US State Department.

Commenting on the news, Alex said: “I am delighted to be joining the Sunday Breakfast Show. I love the local area and can’t wait to discuss today’s religious and ethical issues and how they impact on our region.”

Emily Jeffery, who presents the programme each week, added: “I’m thrilled to have Alex as part of the team on a regular basis. I’ve been involved in this programme for six years and the addition of some new regular voices is an exciting next step, particularly when they are of the calibre of Alex!”

Alex is part of a team of new co-presenters who will appear on the show on a regular basis. Alex’s first appearance was yesterday.
