Hot Radio continues despite closure news

Community station Hot Radio is still on-air this evening despite announcing its closure would happen at 6pm today.

A single tweet by the station today says “Hot Radio will continue broadcasting whilst we work to find a long term solution for the station. Thank you for your support.”

With no other news from the station, RadioToday can only presume the station has been given a lifeline and is considering options to continue broadcasting.

Last week the station said: “It is with regret that Hot Radio will cease broadcasting on Monday 6th January at 18:00. We would like to thank all our staff, listeners and advertisers for all their support over the last five years.”

Hot Radio was recently given a five year extension to its licence by Ofcom.

I have never in my life seen a news article where the news organisation “..can only presume”!

I think the general parlance is something along the lines of “Hot Radio were unavailable for comment”.

It is, but only if the news organisiation has attempted to contact the station.

Ofcom are doing their checks on renewals well then :-(

They might have found a lifeline…they might also have over exaggerated their funding problems in order to get people’s attention

102.8 Hot Radio – the funding has burnt up. Seriously though, are they just running in automation or are they actually live?
