BBC Radio Humberside has a new Saturday morning show presenter in the shape of Look North TV weather presenter Keeley Donovan.
Keeley is a familiar face to TV viewers in Yorkshire being part of the BBC’s regional weather team. Taking over the Saturday 10am-12noon sees her returning to her roots, as she did work experience at BBC Radio Humberside 15 years ago. It’s her local station as she grew up in Tetney near Grimsby.
She told the Hull Daily Mail: “It’s the first time I’ve actually presented a show. I didn’t do the usual route of working in radio and then on to TV. It’s nice to step sideways and do a bit of radio. It is just one show a week, so it is more fun than it is hard work.”
She told the paper more about the show: “I like to play new bands each week,” she said. “I’m starting to get into my music and I went to my first Glastonbury this year. I was also really into stage and amateur dramatics when I was growing up, so I try to get a bit of that in every week as well.”
After working as a reporter for the BBC in Hull, she made the switch to forecasting and presenting the weather. “I started as a journalist and then the job came up on the weather,” she said. “I’d always really loved weather, and journalism just wasn’t quite fitting. I was on holiday and my boss rang me and said this might be a good opportunity, so I went for it.”
