Community station Stafford FM appoints Station Manager

Stafford FM has appointed former Signal 1, Beacon Radio & Rock FM presenter Stu Haycock as their new Station Manager.

The station has recently won a full time FM community radio license to provide a full service for Staffordshire’s County Town.

Stu has been with Stafford FM since its launch in 2001, and was a part of the team that wrote the application. Chairman Mike Heenan said: “We’re delighted Stu has agreed to head up our launch team, and we’re confident he’ll make a success of it.

“He was the obvious choice, and with his wealth of radio experience and exceptional management skills, he possesses all the attributes we were looking for to lead our current team of 40 plus volunteers.”

Stu Haycock added: “I’m very excited about preparing Stafford FM for a full FM launch. We’ve achieved some fabulous things as a full time digital community broadcaster, and the challenge to evolve the station into a fully regulated FM community radio station is a job I just couldn’t resist!”

Stu Haycock also presents the station’s Breakfast Show alongside Maxine Mallen, having previously spent over 20 years at a variety of commercial stations, including Beacon Radio and Channel 4 FM in Dubai.

Stafford FM will remain on online till it launches on FM in Spring 2015.
