DAB splits in Herts, Beds, Bucks and Northants

Ofcom has approved the separation of the Northamptonshire multiplex from the Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire multiplex.

The change means BBC Radio Northampton will be removed from the Herts, Beds and Bucks service whilst BBC Three Counties Radio is removed from the Northamptonshire multiplex.

In addition, commercial stations BOB fm and MKFM will no longer be available on DAB in Northants but Adventure Radio’s Connect FM and Sunrise Radio will continue to broadcast across both areas.

The splitting of the multiplex also means Heart Northants will be able to offer local adverts/content on DAB to match FM, and Smooth Northants will have the ability to provide a separate feed to Herts, Beds and Bucks.

There will also be a temporary Engineering information channel, advising listeners of the changes, across both new multiplexes.

The changes are proposed to take place from February 1st.
