Arrow, Bright, Sovereign and Splash to rebrand

Media Sound Holdings is re-branding its four Sussex radio stations, Arrow FM, Bright FM, Sovereign FM and Splash FM to More Radio.

The group says it has carried out a full strategic review of its output and as a result phased in a range of programming improvements including changes to their music, increasing their commitment to local news (including adding on-line video news), and a brand new Breakfast Show – Chris Birks at Breakfast.

Group Managing Director Allan Moulds told RadioToday: “It was clear from our research that our listeners wanted More of the music they love, More local news, More local traffic and travel, More listener interaction and More fun competitions. Indeed it’s so clear that our listeners wanted ‘more of what they love’ that we have decided to go a lot further and give our stations a fresh new name ‘More Radio’.

All four stations already share all programmes from studios in Worthing. Arrow FM serves Hastings, Bexhill, Battle and surrounding areas on 107.8FM and launched in 1998. Bright FM serves Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath and Lewes on 106.4 and 106.8FM and commenced full time broadcasting in 2001.

Sovereign FM serves Eastbourne and Hailsham on 107.5FM and was launched in 1997, whilst Splash FM covers Worthing, Littlehampton and Shoreham by Sea on 107.7FM and launched in 2003.

Allan added: “The key USP of our stations is their localness and our commitment to the towns we serve remains our number one priority. The move to a common name will fit better with our multi-media strategy and provide a range of additional benefits”.

The group has been using the services of programming consultant John Dash. John commented: “We’ve been evolving the output since autumn 2015. The music’s more focussed, the line-up is stronger and there’s a huge commitment to delivering well produced local news and information. The culmination of all this work is the launch of More Radio on Monday 11th April, I can’t wait to hear it.”

The name More Radio is a network in New Zealand and was previously the name of a station in Swindon, which is now SAM.

Media Sound Holdings also owns Isle of Wight Radio but this station remains unchanged.
