TLRC involved with Blackburn licence winner The Bee

A local consortium, Blackburn Broadcasting Company Ltd, in which The Local Radio Company (?TLRC?), is the joint largest holder has won the licence for Blackburn, Accrington, Darwen and the surrounding areas.

To be called The Bee 107fm, the licence was won against stiff competition from three other groups.

The Blackburn licence adds to TLRC?s expanding network in the North West of the country having recently acquired 2BR and Dune FM.

Richard Wheatly, Chief Executive of The Local Radio Company plc, said:

?This is the first licence application that The Local Radio Company has applied for since our inception and we are delighted to have been successful.

?Our strategy is to build a strong network of local radio stations across the UK, creating a powerful second tier radio group.

?We will continue to grow organically, through licence applications and acquisition.?
