New editor for Southern Counties

Nicci Holliday has been confirmed as the managing editor of BBC Southern Counties Radio.

Nicci, who joined the BBC twelve years ago and started her career on BBC Three Counties Radio, has been acting managing editor of the station for the past five months. She took the role over from Neil Pringle who held the post for two years and now presents the station’s Sussex breakfast show.

Nicci says: “I’m delighted to be the new Editor for BBC Southern Counties Radio. It’s a fantastic radio station full of ambition, creativity and incredibly talented people. I’m looking forward to leading the team and developing an even more exciting range of services for Surrey and Sussex”.

Nicci brings a wide range of experience to the position. She has spent all her career in BBC local radio and held every position from producer to bulletin reader before becoming a senior broadcast journalist, assistant editor and managing editor at BBC Radio Northampton and BBC Radio Cornwall.

Mike Hapgood, Head of Regional and Local Programmes for BBC South East, says: “I’m really pleased to be able to confirm Nicci Holliday’s appointment as the managing editor of BBC Southern Counties Radio, after five months acting in the job. icci took over at short notice earlier in the year from Neil Pringle, when he became presenter of the station’s Sussex breakfast show.

“This was a challenging time in the station’s history and Nicci instantly demonstrated her enthusiasm for the radio station and her commitment to the southern counties – we’re very lucky to have found someone with drive, energy and acute programme judgement to take SCR forward over the coming months and years.

“Nicci brings a wealth of experience as managing editor of BBC Radio Cornwall and as Radio Creative for SON&R [Sharing opportunity in Nations and Regions] in Bristol set up to share best practice and raise creative standards across the division.”
