UBC download trail going well

Last month UBC Media Group announced plans to provide a digital download service for music and today the company report the trail is going well, but tests are still at an early stage.

The report comes as part of the statement by Chairman John Hodson due to be delivered today in London at the company Annual General Meeting.

John will make the following statement: ‘UBC continues to perform in line with expectation for the full year. In common with the rest of the media sector, we found the advertising market tough in the first quarter; however, we have seen a strong recovery since June and prospects are good for August and September. UBC is committed to a strategy of investment in the future growth of the business. We reported last month that the Company was actively exploring ways of extending its radio advertising business. I believe the agreement we announced yesterday with Sky has the potential to deliver strong growth in future years.

The field studies of our music downloading service are still at a very early stage, with the initial trial in Cambridge having just drawn to a close and the
next phase, in the West Midlands, starting this week. Early feedback from the field trials has been positive. I am expecting the Company to be able to provide
a full update on the music downloading service at its half-year stage. In the meantime, I am confident that UBC remains well placed to deliver another good
performance for the year ahead’.
