GCap Media has promoted Group News Editor Simon Cliffe to oversee the entire news output of the company's 40 radio newsrooms. As Group Head of News he will now be responsible for all news provided to all platforms, including on-air, online and digital radio stations.
Dirk Anthony, GCap’s Group Programme Director said today: “I am delighted we have been able to make this key appointment from within the company, especially as recent research shows that our news and information services have never been as relevant to our listeners as it is now. Simon already has the skills and experience required to maximise the editorial talent we have around the Group. Working with other colleagues, such as newly appointed Programme Director – Content, he will also be able to ensure our strategy for News complements the programming developments in other areas of our multi-media business.”
Simon commented: “The combined efforts of the GCap News Team provides enough content to fill well over 250 hours of radio news every week, a large percentage of which is absolutely unique to GCap. I am looking forward to working with my team to maintain GCap’s high quality news output whilst at the same time rising to the challenge of developing and implementing fresh initiatives in the ever-changing world of news reporting.”
