GCap Media's Northants 96 is celebrating the release of the new Harry Potter film today by getting hundreds of local schoolchildren together to read the first book in the series. Each youngster is reading out half a page of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone aloud on stage at Northampton Saints' rugby ground. The station's also been broadcasting live from the event.
The "Harry Potterthon" started at 7.30am with breakfast presenters Jagger and Woody live from the Franklins Gardens stadium.
Northampton Sains players, including England rugby star Ben Cohen, have been helping the kids out as well.
Colin Paterson, Northants 96 Programme Controller, told RadioToday, "We wanted to find a really unique way of bringing the magic of Harry Potter to life in Northamptonshire. Together with the Northampton Saints, we've done it. Hundreds of children from across the region have had a great day and even had the chance to meet some of their rugby heroes. We're hoping this is the first of many joint ventures between Northants 96 and The Saints, as we head in to a very exciting season".
