Raymond Bingham, a Drum and Bass DJ on BBC Radio 1 has been arrested for drug offences. Raymond, better known as Grooverider, was arrested at the Gulf emirate's airport on November 23rd. A small amount of cannabis was allegedly found in his possession.
According to the Dubai weekly 7Days, Raymond was arrested for alleged possession of drugs and pornography. Drugs and pornography are strictly prohibited in the United Arab Emirates, and possession usually carries a four-year jail sentence.
A first hearing is expected to be scheduled in the next few days.
Raymond presents the drum and bass show on Radio 1 with co-host Fabio each Sunday morning.
