Tommy Boyd is to join Original 106fm as the new weekday breakfast show presenter. Boyd replaces Pat Sissons and begins on the Solent regional radio station from 14th January.
Establishing his career as presenter of children’s TV show Magpie in the 1970’s, Boyd went on to anchor ITV’s Wide Awake Club before moving into radio in 1995 at Talk Radio’s inception. He subsequently worked for BBC Radio 5 Live and LBC before re-joining Talk Radio when it was re-launched as talkSPORT in 2000.
Last month it was announced that former Radio 1 presenter Richard Skinner is to join the station as mid-morning presenter on the same day.
Managing director, John Evington said: “I’ve been a big fan of Tommy for years and I know he’ll be a hit with our audience. With two broadcasters of such high calibre joining Original 106 on the same day I am confident that 2008 will be our year”.
