Blackadder man joins Classic FM

The man behind the music of tv shows such as Blackadder and The Vicar of Dibley has joined Classic FM as their composer-in-residence and Saturday afternoon presenter.

Howard Goodall On…begins on June 7 and each week takes listeners on a musical journey through a different theme, instrument, genre, composer or musician. Goodall is the station’s latest presenter signing and joins Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Blur bassist Alex James in Classic FM’s weekend line-up.
As the Classic FM Composer-in-Residence, Howard will compose a piece of music every month, with each work premiered on the Classic FM Full Works.
Classic FM managing director Darren Henley said: “Howard is a natural communicator with a real passion for music. His show will celebrate all that is great about classical music. With Howard joining the weekend schedule, we now have the strongest programming line-up in our 16-year history.”
Goodall is the composer of many recognisable film and TV’s most celebrated theme tunes. Blackadder, The Vicar of Dibley, QI, Red Dwarf and The Catherine Tate Show were all penned by Goodall, while his film credits include the two Mr Bean comedies and the award-winning The Gathering Storm.
