Northsound jock helps Police

Andy James, Northsound 1's afternoon drive presenter has been helping the local police gather interest in their upcoming recruitment weekend by sampling life as a police officer.

His special training gave him an insight into key aspects of police officers’ jobs, including driving a police car, searching an armed “suspect”, dog handling and fitness training.
Sniffer dogs also paid a visit to the Northsound studios on Abbotswell Road to meet Andy at work.
Andy said: “I had a great time out on the beat with the police and in just a week I learned a lot about how varied and interesting a police officer’s job is.
“The Northsound 1 on the Beat promotion aims to highlight the various aspects of the job and the skills and extensive training needed to be a police officer, and also how rewarding the job is. If I had taken the time when I was 18 to see what the police force had to offer, I would have joined!”
