Gambaccini back on GMG Radio

British music icon Paul Gambaccini will be heard on the GMG Radio network of stations hosting a new selection of documentaries from February 7th.

Radio 2 regular Gambaccini, who was axed from hosting the Sony Radio Academy Awards last month, will make a return to Smooth Radio frequency in London, where he used to host the Jazz 30 programme.
The six new series’ of programmes will start with Live Fast Die Young, in which Gambaccini takes a look at the startling number of rock stars who die before their 30th birthday – unparalleled in any other profession.
From Mamma Mia – The Real Story, a two-parter which explores the story behind the story as it celebrates its 10th anniversary on the stage, to When Pirates Ruled The Airwaves, a look at the often murky world of the business side of those early days of broadcasting and the inter-station rivalry, which even led to murder.
The new raft of commissions are being made by production companies USP Content, All Out Productions and Smooth Operations and will be broadcast between 1-2pm on Saturdays and Sunday on Smooth Radio and Real Radio.
GMG Radio Group Programme Director John Simons said: “Our weekend documentaries are providing real appointments to listen for our audiences and continue to ensure that listeners can find refreshingly innovative programmes on commercial radio. This new wave of documentaries is both rich in creativity and diversity, providing something for almost everyone.”
