Julia joins John at BBC Kent

BBC Breakfast News presenter Julia George is joining BBC Radio Kent to co-host the Breakfast Show with John Warnett.

John has hosted the show on his own for over a decade, but welcomes the addition of Julia: "To be honest I can't believe I've managed to get away with dishing out the Warnett view pretty much undiluted for so long. Our callers do a great job at reining me in but it's going to be nice to have some one to talk to and bounce off in the studio."
Julia started in BBC Local Radio at BBC Southern Counties Radio before leaving to join GLR as drive-time presenter. She then moved into television as host of Newsroom South East.
She says: "I am so excited about joining the show because it's not just working in radio again, but in radio in Kent. All my family are still here so it is like coming home. Plus not dashing round the country means I get more time with my little girl.
"Creating a double act with John is going to be great – I am really looking forward to working with him and helping to create something new for Kent. We just want to have fun while giving you good, entertaining radio, that's hugely important to me.
"I love television journalism, especially live presenting, but there's something special about radio. It is much more honest and straightforward – you have a much closer relationship with people.
"I used to stand in for Vanessa Feltz on BBC London and it was one of the most interesting and exciting things I have done at work. So I can't wait to get stuck in again."
Radio Kent Managing Editor, Paul Leaper added: "We're delighted Julia's coming back to the radio station she grew up with. BBC Radio Kent's breakfast show has consistently held its own in the market place. By introducing another presenter we are looking to grow our existing audience, making sure we are giving listeners what they want at the right time."
