Rock and Roll for GMG Radio

GMG Radio’s classic rock station 106.1 Rock Radio has recorded its first set of listening figures today, and show 139,000 adults are tuning in across Manchester – a reach of 6 per cent.
Comparatively, in the same market just two years ago, rock station Xfm Manchester launched with 85,000 listeners and 3 per cent reach.

GMG predicted a first survey result of 228,000 listeners, and 8.0 average hours. in its licence application.
Elsewhere, the Smooth Radio network is doing well with 102.2 Smooth Radio in London on the up, back to roughly where it was four years ago with 594,000 adults listening each week.
Century Radio has lost listeners in the North West, but gained in the North East. The two stations will change name in April to fully join the Real Radio network.
Overall GMG Radio’s 13 analogue stations are listened to by 5.3 million adults across the UK each week. Incoming Chief Executive Stuart Taylor said: “We’ve had some great performances from our stations. I’m particularly pleased with the record reach figures seen by the Smooth Radio Network.”
