Vernon Kay in for Chris Moyles

Chris Moyles announced this morning via Twitter and on air that fellow station DJ Vernon Kay will sit in for the host while he climbs Kilimanjaro in aid of Comic Relief.

The message read: “So Vernon will be hosting our show whilst I climb Kili. It'll be Vernon with the whole team for 6 shows from Mon 2nd March."
Vernon says: "I am looking forward to stepping into the big man's shoes. We'll be getting right behind Chris and the team as they climb Kili and bringing listeners the latest news from up the mountain. I must say, though, getting up that early is going to be a bit of a shock to the system, I've not done that since cleaning phone boxes!''
Moyles will be joined on the expedition to climb Africa’s highest mountain by Cheryl Cole, Kimberely Walsh, Gary Barlow, Alesha Dixon, Ben Shephard, Denise Van Outen, Fearne Cotton and Ronan Keating. Their aim is to raise money to buy mosquito nets for impoverished families in Tanzania.
The climb, which will be filmed, will air in the run up to Comic Relief on March 13.
