A couple who won their dream wedding on Hallam FM have finally tied the knot, after overcoming obstacles from the breakfast team.
The winners were Trina and Shaun, and on the morning of the wedding, Trina was blindfolded and dumped in a field in Gretna Green, in her wedding dress, with Michelle Dignan from Big John at Breakfast. With no money, Trina and Michelle had to get to the Crown Hotel in Bawtry for the wedding at 2pm.
For every 15 minutes Trina was late, she incurred a penalty which included the Bridal March being replaced with Hanson’s Mmm Bop, and the Champagne replaced with value lager. If Trina had been another 15 minutes late, her wedding gown would have been replaced with a bin liner.
Michelle from Big John at Breakfast said: "Trina did amazingly well and was determined to get to the Crown Hotel before she had to wear the bin liner! She blagged train tickets for us – but more importantly than that – she managed to blag us a sandwich from the services…we were starving! Our listeners were brilliant, calling Hallam FM throughout the day offering their help and meeting us along the way to support us. We really couldn’t have done it without them. I’m really happy for Trina and Shaun – they’re a lovely couple and Trina looked beautiful – despite what we went through that morning."
