The Scott Trust has today appointed Amelia Fawcett chair of Guardian Media Group. GMG owns the Real Radio, Smooth Radio and Rock Radio networks as well as the Manchester Evening News.
Fawcett, a former Morgan Stanley executive and independent member of the GMG board since June 2007, succeeds Paul Myners, who resigned as the company's chairman in October.
"She [Fawcett] will be a superb chair of GMG and we are delighted to welcome her," said Liz Forgan, the chair of the Scott Trust.
Fawcett, 52, who was awarded the CBE in the 2002 for services to the finance industry, said: "GMG is a special organisation and quite unique among its peers in UK and world media. It is a great privilege to become its chair, especially in such exciting and challenging times for the industry."
