GMG Radio is to operate an RSL to cover this year's Download Festival at Donington Park.
Powered by Rock Radio, Download FM will operate on 87.7FM throughout the weekend of the annual rock festival, starting at 9am on Wednesday June 10th through to 12pm on Monday June 15th on a Restricted Service Licence from Ofcom.
The station will feature Rock Radio presenters Paul Anthony and Tom Russell, along with presenter of Rock Radio’s Classic Rock magazine radio show and rock writer Mick Wall.
Rock Radio will also broadcast live from the event, giving listeners in Manchester, Scotland and the North East of England coverage of artists such as Faith No More, Slipknot and Def Leppard.
Rock Radio Scotland Station Manager, Ciaran O’Toole said, “Since the launch of Rock Radio, one of our ambitions has been to team up with a major festival and the Download festival is the best in Britain. We’re delighted to be working with them to make Download 2009 one of the best yet.”
