Absolute Radio holds its own

Absolute Radio has managed to steady its declining audience, but still has nearly a third fewer listeners than it did this time last year – when the station was still a Virgin brand.

The station, which changed its name at the end of September last year, has posted new RAJAR figures that show a weekly reach of 1.69 million listeners, down 0.1 per cent on the last quarter.
Though, the Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show is up 2.9 per cent nationally and 5.2 per cent across the network.
Clive Dickens, Chief Operating Officer at Absolute Radio said: “Following the rebrand, Absolute Radio has clawed back audience and we’re now posting a steady performance.
“We have some exciting plans for Absolute Radio’s first birthday in September, including our own large music event.”
