Lamacq leaves 1 after 16 years

In an evening schedule reshuffle at BBC Radio 1, Steve Lamacq's show is to be replaced by a series of music documentaries exploring artists, eras, genres and scenes.

Steve has been with the station for 16 years, but most recently was hosting the weekly Monday night In New Music We Trust programme. That show will end on September 14th.
In other changes, Nihal will take over Tim Westwood's Tuesday night slot with a new review programme, Huw Stephens will experiment with new music on a Wednesday and In New DJs We Trust will air on Thursdays.
Nihal says: "Nine pm has just become the go-to time for anyone who has an inquisitive, opinionated or musically voracious mind."
On Friday nights, Pete Tong and Annie Mac are flipping shows – so Annie's Mash-Up will broadcast from 7pm till 9pm and Pete Tong is on the decks between 9pm and 11pm.
Ben Cooper, Deputy Controller, Radio 1, says: "Radio 1 must continue to evolve to help sharpen our offer to younger audiences.
"We're committed to delivering the best content to our audiences and our refreshed schedule reflects this."
Andy Parfitt, Controller, Radio 1, adds: "Taken together with our recent revamp of the core daytime schedule, this represents one of the most significant shake-ups of the whole schedule in recent times and will help us focus on a new generation of Radio 1 listeners."
