A Star is Born.. on Nov 2nd

People in Durham, Darlington and Northallerton will wake up to a new radio station on November 2nd, as Star Radio will go live on frequencies currently used by Durham FM, Alpha Radio and Minster Northallerton.

The UKRD stations will feature local breakfast shows and weekend mornings, but the rest of the output will be shared.

Star Radio will also broadcast syndicated weekend shows from Pat Sharp and Gary King, whilst Les Gunn will host the new weekday mid-morning show.

Commenting on the progress of the changeover to the new name, Mark Reason, Station Manager of Star Radio told RadioToday.co.uk: "The dedication and hard work of the team here has been immense and we have had some great feedback on the changes already. I am sure that existing listeners and new listeners re-tuning to the stations will love the music and our continuing commitment to local communities we broadcast to.

"From launch date, there will be some great things happening on the air – we really can’t wait to launch! Star Radio is here to stay I’ve no doubt about it!"
