Format change for Original 106.5

Ofcom has agreed a Format change for Bristol's Original 106.5.
The station originally launched as an adult alternative, album-led station under previous owners, but now the station has tweaked the wording slightly to become more flexible.

Original 106.5 will now be obliged to become an adult-alternative station playing some adult-oriented album tracks with classic rock and predominantly non-contemporary pop/rock hits. In other words, the station is no longer required to be "album-led" but 24 hour news will continue as per the original Format.
The request to remove the Album-Led part of the Format was significant enough for the regulator to put the matter to consultation.
The consultation attracted only one response, which was opposed to the proposal but did not offer additional comment. Ofcom said approving the change was specific to the Bristol radio landscape and was not necessarily a situation that might be mirrored in other areas where album-led stations operate.
