Gary returns for Real breakfast

TFM's Gary Philipson is heading back to Real Radio North East to take over the breakfast show, replacing Craig Beck.

Gary will be re-united with Lisa Shaw, after previously spending nine months on the show together as Century Radio in 2004

Gary has spent the past five years at TFM hosting "Gary Philipson’s Late Night Zoo.

Real Radio's daytime schedule will see the breakfast show move from a 9am, to 10am finish, with Jonathan Morrell moving to 10am – 2pm and a new look to afternoons, with Ben and Kelly’s Big Drive Home from 2pm – 6pm, as Kelly Scott moves from the Breakfast Show to join Ben Weston. The Legends will continue to air from 6pm till 8pm.

Jon Kirby, Programme Controller for Real Radio North East said, “I’m delighted to welcome Gary back home to Real Radio. He is a Real North East character, who knows and loves every inch of the area. He’s one of us and a naturally funny guy. Together Gary and Lisa are a terrific blend and are also great friends. I have no doubt that Gary and Lisa will be the most talked about Breakfast Show in the North East.”

Gary said, “I had a job as a coal man lined up in Trimdon, but it fell through at the last minute, so I’m going to the Real Radio Breakfast Show with Lisa for now, until I can get a proper milk round; champion.”

Lisa Shaw said, “Oh no, not him again!”

The Real Radio Breakfast Show with Gary and Lisa will launch at 6am, on Monday 15th March.
