Jazz FM highlights Africa

Digital Jazz FM is celebrating World Malaria Day this weekend with its partner Malaria No More UK.

The station will be infusing the output with music from Africa and broadcasting a series of interviews with Malaria No More UK ambassadors.

Special features for the weekend include an interview with UK jewellery designer Stephen Webster and UK jazz musician Joe Stilgoe. The first show will be Planet Mambo: Focus on Africa – a World Malaria Day Special presented by Gerry Lyesight.

Jazz FM announced its partnership with Malaria No More UK in March to help save lives from malaria in Africa. Jazz FM's Leo Green said: “We are hugely excited about this important and life-saving partnership and to be able to harness the power of our radio station and passion for jazz to help make malaria no more”.

ichard Wheatly, Chief Executive, Jazz FM said: “It is a tragedy to know that malaria claims the life of a child in Africa every 30 seconds and it is within our power to stop this. Our partnership will enable lifelong and newly emerging jazz fans to help save lives by doing something they love and tuning into Jazz FM. I am immensely proud that we’re getting behind such an important and inspirational initiative. We want to look back in years to come and say we played our part in making malaria no more”
