George Lamb to leave 6 Music

BBC 6 Music presenter George Lamb and his co-host Marc Hughes are leaving BBC 6 Music.

The pair will focus on new radio projects planned for early next year, and their final show will be on Saturday 19th June.

George says it isn't a dicision they have taken hastily: "We've been reviewing our situation for some time and we've always looked for opportunities to maximise the shows potential. I leave 6 Music with fantastic memories, and will always look back at my three and a bit years with great joy."

The controversial 30 year old presenter won Sony DAB Rising Star Award in 2008, and has been the subject of campaigns to both rid him of the station, and keep him at the station over the past couple of years.

He continues: "Marc and I have been overwhelmed by the support we've had from the 6 Music management and our incredible listeners from day one. We're super excited about developing our new show based on our tried and tested 3L's principle – Listening, Laughing and Learning. This wouldn't have been possible without 6 Music and I wish everyone at the station the best of luck in this transitional period and my support for the station will always remain."

George will be presenting the last ever Big Brothers Little Brother through out June, July and August, and starts filming the 2nd series of The Young Talent Of The Year for BBC3 in September.
