Kerrang! Radio helps Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi have asked Kerrang! Radio to find an opening band for an upcoming gig.

So the station is holding a competition to find an unsigned band to play in front of thousands, and will ask the listeners to choose the winning act.

Whoever wins will be fully sound managed at the gig by Bon Jovi’s road crew, get a tour manager and vehicle – and then after a full sound check will get to perform for 30 minutes to an audience of thousands.

The decision will be made by Kerrang! Radio’s own team of judges, including Simon James and Hill, Luke Wilkins, Kate Lawler, Loz Guest and Johnny Doom – all presided over by Alex Baker from the Kerrang! Radio Unsigned Show.

“We’ve always been keen to break the myth that unsigned music is badly produced rubbish – all bands have to start somewhere which is why we give them a showcase on Kerrang! Radio every Sunday evening” said Alex.

Kerrang! Radio’s James Walshe added: "Isn’t this what radio is all about? Cash giveaways are so boring! Radio stations are in the enviable position to be immensely creative and give listeners money-can’t-buy experiences. In this case, we love the idea of being in a band, telling your mates you’re performing at North Nibley village hall one week – and then the 02 Arena the following Friday night”.

It also appears the band has asked the same of Kerrang!'s half-sister station Wave 105, for the gig the night after, on June 10th.
