Luxembourg legend Dave dies

Radio Luxembourg presenter Dave Christian has passed away at the age of 61. He died on Saturday morning at St Gabriel’s Hospital in Luxembourg.

Tributes to the broadcaster have been paid on the Radio Luxembourg listeners group on [link=http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=7670075753]Facebook[/link] – including former colleagues and presenters.

Dave's daughter Karen announced the sad news: "my dad passed away at 0945 this morning. He had internal bleeding that caused his organs to shut down. It was fast but peaceful and his heart faded away at 0945."

His last radio show was most recently for the online version of Radio Luxembourg.

Shaun Tilley: "God bless you 'me ol mucker'. So glad you, me and Opal had that Sunday together a few months back!! I'll miss the jokes you used to send me, even though I couldn't use any of them on air!! Wherever you are DC….Radio Luxembourg is right there with you!!! All us Luxy old boys will miss you pal."

Tony Prince: "Goodbye Dave. So glad we had a recent reunion and the chance to share memories of our great days and nights on 208. We were all so lucky to broadcast on Luxy and Dave was a part of the greatest air-crew of all time."

Mike Hollis: "I am so sad to hear this terrible news. Dave was a great friend who i admired for so long before i joined the great 208. He telephoned me on a regular basis always full of life and always ending our conversation with a joke. Great voice, Great guy, Great memories."

Enda Caldwell: "Very sad news to get first thing this morning.. a legend has truly passed. What a Gentleman. Sincerest Sympathies to Karen at this time from Enda, Yvonne, Kaiya and my parents Walter and Therese who fondly remember Dave from The Great 208 and when they met him in 2007. We are all very sad to hear of his passing today."

Dave's funeral takes placeo on Wednesday July 14th at 3pm at the big cemetry in Limpertsberg Notre Dame, Luxembourg.
