More football deals for radio

It's the start of the football season and local radio stations are continuing to support their local football teams by providing coverage and commentary.

Two such stations are MFR, which will cover all Inverness Caledonian Thistle games, and Wish FM who'll cover Wigan Athletic.

Also, Radio Clyde’s Superscoreboard has secured goalflash rights for the new 2010 / 11 season. The new deal means that listeners to the show will get all the action as it happens.

Head of News and Sport at the Bauer station, Lorraine Herbison, was delighted to make the announcement. She said: “Securing the goalflash rights, allowing us to go round the grounds, underlines our commitment to bringing the best in sports coverage direct to our listeners and enhances the show even further. The new look programme launched on Monday night and was also the debut show for Jim Delahunt, our new anchor. It is already proving very popular with our listeners.”

Meanwhile at MFR, Danny Gallagher, Managing Director said: “I am absolutely delighted to have negotiated this deal with the SPL for our listeners. Many have made it known that they would love MFR to follow the first division champions as they move back up to the Clydesdale Bank Premier League. I’d like to thank Tulloch Homes, our broadcast partners, who have been instrumental in supporting us.”

In Wigan, UTV station Wish FM will air full, uninterrupted commentary on every Wigan Athletic game, home and away throughout the 2010/11 season.
