Tindle newsroom staff at risk

Tindle Radio has entered a consultation period with journalists at its five radio stations in East Anglia and Essex.

RadioToday.co.uk understands the company is looking to reduce local news teams and create one main news centre at Town 102 in Ipswich to serve all stations.

A leaked memo from Tindle Radio's Group Programme Director Tom Kay says: "We have met with our mainland journalists and discussed the proposal for one central newsroom in Ipswich to replace the current five newsroom structure."

The four newsrooms at risk are in The Beach in Great Yarmouth, North Norfolk Radio, Radio Norwich and Dream 100 in Tendring.

Later, Tindle Radio gave us this official response: "We're in consultation with our journalists regarding a proposed restructure. Local content remains central to our output, but it's important we investigate new ways of working in these changing times for the industry."
