Heart splits for Bedford event

A major news story in Bedford yesterday was enough for Heart Home Counties drive-time presenter Matt Jarvis to offer a separate programme for the town.

Matt recorded split links for Heart's 96.9 transmitter, keeping listeners informed of a major power cut, whilst the rest of the region retained normal programming.

The power cut affected thousands of homes and businesses on Wednesday afternoon – and is historically a time when people turn to their local radio station for information.

A spokesperson for Heart told RadioToday.co.uk: "Following the co location taking place across the Heart network, news services have been extended and enhanced and this is a good example of how a national network delivers locally."

Heart Home Counties was created on July 16th 2010 when Heart Northampton, Heart Bedford, Heart Dunstable and Heart Milton Keynes merged to create one station.
