Jazz FM celebrates 20 years

Jazz FM is to become the media partner for the Royal Albert Hall’s Late Night Jazz Series, as the station celebrates 20 years since the launch of the original station.

The sessions offer jazz, Brazilian rhythms, blues and swing in its recently renovated Elgar Room.

This September sees the launch of its second Late Night Jazz series following the success of series one earlier this year and coincides with a special broadcasting of Ella Fitzgerald’s concert on Jazz FM this Monday, 13th September at 6pm, recorded twenty years ago at the Royal Albert Hall marking the launch of the station.

“We are delighted to be the media partner for the Royal Albert Hall’s Late Night Jazz sessions,” says Jazz FM’s Chief Exec, Richard Wheatly. “The Royal Albert Hall is one of London’s most iconic venues and one that holds a very special place in the history of Jazz FM. And this is a particularly important year for us as we celebrate our 20th anniversary. We launched with one of the jazz greats in one of the greatest venues in town so this new relationship could not be more perfect as the Royal Albert Hall now paves the way for tomorrow’s stars.”

Jasper Hope, Director of Events at the Royal Albert Hall, said, “We are thrilled that Jazz FM are back on board as the official media partner of our second season of Late Night Jazz. As the premiere radio station of jazz, swing, blues and soul this is an ideal partnership for this series and extremely fitting in celebration of Jazz FM's 20th birthday.”
