Mansfield MD walks for charity

Mansfield 103.2 Managing Director Tony Delahunty has completed a charity walk on for Macmillan Cancer Support in Nottinghamshire.

He had hoped to raise just over £1000 by walking 26.3 miles, but managed to raise more than double that – at £2300.

His route weaved through the station TSA taking in Mansfield Woodhouse,Warsop, Shirebrook, Pleasley, Mansfield, Kirkby and Sutton.

The 66 year old radio stalwart has worked at a number of radio stations over the last 30 years including Trent, Century, LBC and Pennine Radio. He decided to do the walk after going on a health kick earlier in the summer and felt that a challenge like this would encourage him to shed some pounds but at the same time raise some much needed cash for Macmillan who do such a fantastic job locally.

Tony told RadioToday.co.uk: "26.3 miles, I dont normally walk that in a month, but I'm delighted to have completed it".

Lizzie Edgerton , Funraising Manager for Macmillan in Nottinghamshire said, 'We don't receive any Government funding so Tony doing this will make a big difference to the services we offer across Nottinghamshire.'

Mansfield 103.2 are keeping Tony's just giving site open until the end of Sept [link=www.justgiving.com/tonysbigwalk]here[/link].
